The official opening of Korongee

On 14 July 2020, the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency the Honourable Kate Warner AC, officially opened Korongee Village.

Korongee is a purpose-built village for people who are living with dementia.

An innovation for the aged care sector, Korongee has been developed through a $19 million Social Impact Investment Trust from industry super fund HESTA, and is managed by Social Ventures Australia (SVA).

The village design, which features 12 houses in four cul-de-sacs, a community centre, salon, a general store, café and wellness centre, has been informed by extensive research on best practice models of dementia care.
