Ready, set, action! Construction begins on Korongee site

It’s all happening down at Korongee as the construction management company Fairbrother has officially moved onto the site and is now in the process of conducting earthworks to lay the foundations for the village.

Korongee project manager Donna Lashmar said this represents an exhilarating phase of the Korongee development.

“It’s truly exciting to see the works commencing for Korongee village. This is just one more step towards ensuring the vision for Australia’s first village for people living with dementia transforms into reality.”

The village is expected to open in mid-2020 and is based on a small house model.  It will consist of 12 houses containing eight bedrooms, staffed by care professionals who will help to reinforce an authentic home-like environment.
Korongee’s design will make it possible for residents living with dementia to walk around the village and participate in everyday life decisions such as going to the café to buy a coffee, working in the garden or simply heading to the supermarket to buy groceries for dinner.
