FOR GLENVIEW STAFF

Bisdee’s role in keeping us safe

Given what we have seen outside of Tasmania, we have to plan for the worst, for example a COVID infection of a resident. We considered the best way to provide comfort and support to someone who is sick, as well as making sure we prevented the spread of the illness throughout the facility.

The best option in the event of an infection, would be to utilise the Bisdee Community Centre space as part of our plan to isolate those that we may be required to care for in residence, whilst avoiding the risk of the spread of the virus.

Bisdee is a highly valued part of Glenview and any temporary closure would be an unfortunate impact of the pandemic. However, it is perfectly located to be a safe space. It enables easy access for health professionals, is in a facility that is comfortable for residents, and it is easy to keep clean.

So, what does this mean for our existing Bisdee programs?

If a resident is identified as COVID positive we will need to close Bisdee as soon as possible and use the safe space to care for ill residents and to protect the rest of our Windsor Street community.

If we need to use Bisdee to support sick residents we will let staff and clients know via text.

If clients are at Bisdee at the time, staff will support them to get home.

If a client is staying at Bisdee for respite care and can’t go home, staff will support them to find an alternative safe place to stay.

It is really important to note that Bisdee programs and services will continue as normal unless we require the space, which we hope won’t happen.

We thank the Bisdee staff, and all Glenview staff for understanding our plan to help keep everyone safe.
