We are proud to announce that we have won another Better Practice Award from the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency.
The Better Practice Awards promote and recognise improvement and better practice in aged care homes that succeed in going above and beyond. This year we won an award in the category of Staff Development and Retention for the workplace initiative Working at Glenview is a journey, not a job.
This workforce initiative is a long term project to address local and national workforce shortages. The goals were to attract and retain the right staff, eliminate dependence on brokered staff and provide career advancement and leadership opportunities for staff within the organisation.
The strategies used were underpinned by the philosophy that in order to achieve goals Glenview needed to employ and provide opportunities for people who had the personalities and attributes that aligned closely with the organisations goal and their promise to residents for a better life now and into the future.
Since the implementation of the initiative Glenview has enjoyed improved retention rates and has dramatically decreased the use of brokered agency staff. Staff survey responses demonstrate that have staff increased satisfaction in their work at Glenview. These workforce initiatives received recognition by the wider industry in 2012 when Glenview was named an Employer of Choice.
